Trevor & Cheryl Howard direct the work of AJCM from their home in Stockport,
near Manchester. They are members of Heaton Moor Evangelical Church
in Stockport where many of AJCM's activities take place.
Due to the constantly changing population and needs of Japanese people in the
area activities are under constant review. Our aim is to be flexible and since
AJCM started we have provided many activities and services, as required, for the Japanese
community.
Listed below are some of the activities we have been involved with since the ministry started.
Classes for housewives, businessmen and students to help improve
English conversation and learn more about the Bible.
To enable housewives to learn more about English food and traditions.
Practical advice for housewives about English customs and lifestyle.
Students at local universities and colleges especially appreciate the opportunity
to visit an English home and make friends with English people.
Providing translation support when visiting a Doctor, hospital or school.
This popular activity provides an opportunity for you to meet with other parents and for
your children to make friends and play with other Japanese speaking children.
More details are available on the Toddler Group page.
Subject to agreement with schools we can visit to provide translation
and support for Japanese children in English schools. We can also
advise about homework and the English education system.
A short course of 6 one-hour lessons for individuals or small groups.
Living in a foreign country can be stressful. We can provide advice,
support and counselling to enable you to enjoy your stay in the UK.
We can provide information about churches throughout the UK and also
arrange introductions. We also have connections with churches in
Europe. U.S.A. and Japan.
We have a supply of Japanese Bibles and other Christian literature for
sale as well as a small library of books, videos and cassettes for
borrowing.
