Thanksgiving and Joy

September 20th seems like a long time ago now but it still stands out in our memories! This was the day of our “Thankfulness and Joy” celebration and it proved to be just that.

About 70 people joined us to celebrate and give thanks to our faithful God for more than 20 years of sharing His love with the Japanese community in the North West.

We were delighted to see friends from Japan and the UK, some, who we have known over many years and others who we met for the first time! Some were local friends and some had travelled many miles to be with us. To each of you who made the effort to be with us a huge thank you for those who were unable to make it – we missed you!!

The celebration included worship, hearing from some of those present what AJCM has meant to them, messages from those not able to attend and, of course, a word from The Bible. Afternoon tea was served and there were opportunities to dress in kimono, try origami and to have our names written in Japanese.

The time closed with traditional Japanese music on the guitar played by a Japanese music student and children’s songs played on the violin by a 4year old Toddler Group member. Needless to say she stole the show!
